Kirsten; Darrell Dodge's theory has been crucial to my own understanding of the tremendous variabilty of stuttering, why it is so difficult to manage, why relapse is so common and why there is no stuttering cure. Dodge's amygdala theory is disputed by other professionals, but then so are all the other theories about stuttering. Check out Dodge's website "The Veils of Stuttering" and decide for yourself.
