I was recently able to be a part of a group to bring people who stutter together. In the group the people who had gone to therapy for several years discussed how they will always be a person who stutters but their confidence has increased while their shame and embarrassment has decreased. They said that how they felt about themselves is what has changed their life. I think this is key in successful therapy. Just as you have decided to be open about your stutter and to not hide from the fluent world, others have realized they have a mind of their own as well. What are some effective ways to become accepting of who you are? How many people who stutter have accepted themselves as a person who stutters?
