Hi Erin: What works best for me is voluntary stuttering. It exposes my stuttering to myself and my listener so that I have no need to pretend I'm something I am not. I sometimes tell people when I begin stuttering that I stutter. That seems to clear the air of any bewilderment or awkwardness on both our parts. Best wishes.
