I thought this article was very interesting. I have noticed people who stutter having a problem with pacing and their rate of speech. The area of intonation patterns and establishing nonverbal rapport is a new idea to me. Is there any other research involving these subjects going on right now? Considering that people who stutter can have moments of fluency (sometimes for a long time) supports the idea that a person's speech areas of the brain are in tact. How would this be addressed in a session? An idea is to practice nonverbal behavior to get a message across. Also, practicing mimickery could be helpful in a session.
