Dear Hila, No, this group of sufferers does not stutter in situations in which they are alone – when they are not in contact with other persons. Any other person or persons, even those with the best intentions (e.g. loved ones) can provoke stuttering. A clear connection between stuttering and anxiety has not been drawn possibly as a result of insufficient methods for diagnosing anxiety as an internal psychological state.
