This is an excellence idea! I'm an avid sports fan and after seeing some of the names, it made me want to look up their stories and read more. I never would have guessed Bill Walton!!! I was just wondering how your students respond to this assignment. I'm sure they are surprised at some of the names, but do you think it really makes a big impact and helps them realize that they can overcome stuttering, or is it just a fun activity for them? Also, I know that self-concept is a big problem with children and teens when it comes to stuttering. Have you noticed if it helps their self-concept at all, realizing that even famous people have trouble with stuttering?
