Thank you for this article. I've learned about monitoring and changing one's thoughts. I've learned about physilogical responses to stress and stress managment. But I never quite made the connection that these two processes directly affect on another! I don't know why I have kept them in two separate categories to be addressed simultaneously. Now I am wondering: if I document client change in thought processes and I document client's comfort level in situations previously avoided, would I see similar improvements on these two measures? Also, if a client improved self-concept, etc, should I expect to see that client move out of his comfort zones without directly working on that process in therapy? I ask this because I no longer accompany clients to speaking situations outside the clinic room to coach them in approaching fearful speaking situations. Can I assume that our work in the clinic on improving emotional intelligence will prompt a client to become more assertive with communication skills outside the clinic room? Thanks again!
