I found your article on emotional intelligence and the treatment of stuttering a very fascinating insight to the issue of combining emotional factors into treatment methods. As I was reading your thoughts about interpersonal relationships and how people who stutter often have relationships in their life which are surrounded by fear and anxiety because of their conception of how fluent speakers view their stuttering, I was wondering if you thought that an anti-avoidance type of therapy approach, where people who stutter would go out in public and stutter on purpose, would benefit a client's outlook on other people's perceptions of stuttering. Do you think that if a person who stutters sees that people around them are not acting as though stuttering is a horrible disorder, they would then be able to overcome their fears about other relationships in their lives?
