Hello Ricky, Thank you for addressing such an important issue as measurement of EI competencies in planning and outcome measurement of stuttering intervention. Presently, there are very few studies available which focus on the application of the EI construct in clinical settings. Most of them are done in clinical psychology. One of the reasons for this dearth of such studies is inadequate reliability and validity of the EI construct measurements. In the future, I plan to modify one of the EI instruments to assess emotion related behaviors for clients who stutter. Presently, I use available instruments assessing cognitive and affective aspects of stuttering and working on developing a Fluency Renaissance Scale of Changed Perceptions of Stuttering. I agree with you. We do need to establish the correlation between EI and various clinical conditions, and to establish the effect of therapeutic programs on emotion-related skills in our clients. Good luck to you. Isabella Reichel
