Hello Richelle, Thank you for your kind words and questions. I believe that pseudostuttering is one of the most powerful strategies for desensitization, reduction of fear, and development of a sense of control. Reducing self-stigma, understanding of cognitive and emotional aspect of stigma formation, as well as improvement of self-regard and reality testing are all important components in coping with negative stigma toward stuttering. Additionally, during assignments of speaking to strangers, my clients have a chart that is divided into three columns according to my clients’ perceptions of listeners’ reactions to my clients’ speech. The columns are: positive reaction, neutral, and negative. This assignment allows my clients to improve their stress tolerance, reality testing, management of their own emotions, and awareness of the feelings of others. Isabella Reichel
