Hi Jenna, Thank you for your positive message. I am glad too that you read and liked the paper. Indeed I count my blessings and am thankful for every moment. Isn’t being accepting of oneself and others and striving to see the good in the world and to improve the way things are all part of being real? If a paper such as this enables a person with a communication disorder, or any other challenge, to feel more receptive to positive potential, all the better. In my experiences, both personally and professionally, I find that one effective way to “give positive feelings to people who stutter” is to create opportunities for them to experience for themselves fluency success. There is nothing more believable and internally motivating than the real thing. We all interpret our present and predict our future on the basis of our past events. Rather than tell another person what they can accomplish, I prefer to create events in which they experience their own success directly. Only then will someone reconsider the way he or she functions in the present and entertain alternatives for the future. By the way, you have chosen a wonderful career. This is my 31st year as a speech-language pathologist; I am as excited about the career and as thankful for the privilege of being able to learn and grow everyday with our clients and families as if it were my first year. You chose an excellent program too. Please give Charleen Bloom and Donna Cooperman a hug for me. You are fortunate to be with them, as they are to be with you. Best to you and good luck. David
