I am a second year graduate student from Stephen F. Austin State University of Texas. As an assignment, we were asked to read and comment on some of the articles presented for ISAD. Of course, as an obligatory assignment, a moment of nothing less than annoyance swept over me. However, after reading your article (and some of the comments that followed), I realized that this assignment was more than just that. It's a time to honor individuals who are so often pushed aside. A time for understanding, reflection, and growth. Struggling through graduate school (and personal life crisis) is a daunting task. So many times, we fail to step back and realize that these struggles are shaping and molding us into actual people. REAL people with love, sympathy, knowledge, and faith. I appreciate this article on so many levels. You've approached life not as a person who stutters, but as a person. A REAL person who has more than just one level. I think it is crucial to all of us to not see people on a one-dimensional level. This will not only help us to be more sympathetic and compassionate professionals, but will improve our abilities as an understanding and considerate person. We must grow from other's experiences and I appreciate the opportunity to learn from yours. Thank you for sharing your heart!!
