Hi Pam, Thank you for your kind words and your candor. Is there anything more basically human than our need to share our stories and to be heard? I don’t think so. If some of my thoughts can add “oomph” to yours, go for it! Many of us know what it is like to try to hide stuttering and to be reluctant to share our thoughts out of fear of stuttering and listener reaction. Being real is facing those challenges, as you are doing now. Go tell your story. You will be surprised to learn how many people will relate to it; you will know they have when they share their story with you. The point is that stuttering enables us to learn about others and ourselves. All people can relate to the challenge of being real and overcoming obstacles. And, by the way, I was talking to you. I would be interested to learn how your speech goes. Your willingness to approach this challenge is even more important in the long run than the outcome of the speech itself. I am excited for you and only wish that I could be in the audience to hear your story. Good luck. David Shapiro
