I am a very new student in a graduate program to become an SLP. I continue to be stunned and fascinated by the emotional and psychological aspects that accompany treatment in this field. I have read many threads and postings during this ISAD conference and I was moved to respond to yours because this is my recent insight into the career path I have set myself on. I realize this reluctance to change is not going to be exclusive to fluency but will likely cross over to every type of SLP treatment. Thank you for sharing your insights as I feel you have furthered my education and I will be sure to add some counseling courses into my courseload!
