I am a grad student of communication disorders with a particular interest in developmental disabilities. I found your case studies thought-provoking. Thinking of disfluencies in terms of serving a communicative function is a notion that had never occurred to me. Also, developmental stuttering occurring later b/c the child developed language later is fascinating and makes alot of sense. Your ideas add unique dimensions to how to handle the assessment process and the important decision of whether to implement treatment. Quite eye-opening and helpful. Thank you.
