I am a graduate student at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. I was interested in your article since it targets disfluency in children and adults with autism. I find it surprising that in C2, the onset of stuttering came at age 18. Most children, the onset starts from 3-7 years old during the developmental period. I did read your potential explanations and found them to be valid since they were based on other research. I was wondering if C2's cognitive/intellectual disability had an influence for the sudden onset of his disfluency. Would this be a probable factor?
