Megan Thank you for your interest in our study. Before we target the use of CBT with young children who stutter, more research is needed to determine that perfectionistic tendencies make it more likely for stuttering to become chronic. However, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy has been a treatment of choice with children who have anxiety disorders for many years. Elements of cognitive behavioral therapy can be used with children when one takes into consideration that a young child may have limits in metacognitive processes and in being able to describe feelings. Best, Barbara
