Hello. My name is Shirin Shaban and I am a graduate student pursuing a masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology at NYU. I am currently taking a stuttering course with Professor Caggiano who is fantastic! I am learning so many new things! Our assignment is to read an article and post a question. I found this article particularly intersting. It was stated in your article that "We are not saying that perfectionism causes stuttering". However, would you say that stuttering causes an individual to be a perfectionist? People who stutter (PWS) develop personalities that dont tolerate disfluencies and sue tension, effort and struggle to control their speech.
