Hi, my name is Lauren and I am at graduate student in the masters program in Speech-Language Pathology at NYU. I find that this possible link between stuttering and perfectionism to be very interesting and I think more studies should be done in this area. In your study, did the participants report being held back in other areas of life by their perfectionism besides in speaking situations? If so, it seems that therapy to address these perfectionistic tendencies would be very beneficial so that the person who stutters would have an overall more positive outlook on his or her capabilities and endeavors in all areas not only those related to speaking.
