Dr. Amster and Dr. Klein, Although your paper was one of the first listed, the title grabbed my attention and held my interest after skimming through the rest of the papers. I found the connection between perfectionism and stuttering to be very intriguing. Based on the theories I have learned in my graduate class, it appears that perfectionism would correspond with stuttering in some way. Your research using the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy appears promising. After reading the paper, I couldn’t help but wonder what brought you to the idea that perfectionism and stuttering might be linked somehow? Were there specific clients that you worked with that led you to this possible theory? Also, is there a systematic way to use the CBT or could it be modified for different populations and in different situations?
