Nicole Thank you for your frankness and support of our paper. You bring up some interesting issues. People who are perfectionistic often have internal expectations for their performances and because their goal is perfection they are never satisfied even when other people tell them they did great. This is why CBT is so helpful with reducing perfectionistic tendencies. It can help to change one’s illogical expectations and thoughts. I suggest that you read Dr. David Burns' classic text, The Feeling Good Handbook which can give you more information about CBT and how it can be used to change self-defeating thinking. Best, Barbara
