Hi Dr. Amster & Dr. Klein, The fact that the participants in your study maintained success 15 weeks post-treatment speaks volumes! It would be interesting to see if this effect continues one, two years down the road or if “refresher courses” in CBT would be merited. Admittedly, my understanding of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is elementary at best, and your research (as well as the resources recommended therein) inspires me to explore it more thoroughly (thanks!). As a sidebar, I think it would also be interesting to consider perfectionist tendencies from the treating clinician’s perspective. In other words, how clinicians view treatment planning and outcomes and how they can also experience cognitive distortions as related to professional growth or perceived “success” or lack of “success”. I hope that makes sense! I think it could be easy for clinicians to succumb to the same perfectionist traits but that it would be wise to somehow harness those traits to recognize realistic goals and possibilities. Thank you in advance for your time and consideration! Kind Regards, Rinda Boehm WCU - Graduate Student in Communication Sciences & Disorders
