This article provoked a lot of thoughts for me regarding perfectionism. As a speech and language graduate student with a background in psychology, I often find myself considering personality with certain cases. We have been discussing in class the differences between people who are overt vs. covert stutters. I am wondering if perfectionism has an influence on if a person chooses to be a covert stutterer. Another aspect that I have always been intrigued by is that of birth order and personality. As first born children stereotypically have "Type A" personalities, is there any evidence of a link between level of stuttering and birth order?
