Dr. Amster and Dr. Klein, I find your article to be very fascinating. I am a Speech Language Pathology Graduate student and I currently have a fluency client. I am very interested in fluency clients and was very excited to see what you have found regarding this topic. Reading this article about possibly connecting stuttering and perfectionism really intrigues me. I suppose I never really thought about the correlations between the two; however it does make sense. The idea that people who stutter are often concerned about their speech and making mistakes while speaking is something I have learned in class. A person who is a perfectionist would definitely be more concerned about making mistakes while speaking. This would be something that I would take note of when working with fluency clients in the future. I commend both of you on your idea and research in finding a possible link between stuttering and perfectionism.
