I really enjoyed the article on Perfectionism and Stuttering. In the article it states, “realistically, nothing in the world is actually perfect and errors and mistakes are a natural part of the human condition.” Everyone has had errors in their life. Some people punish themselves more than others. Another quote from the article is, “Perfectionists tend to be less tolerant of mistakes and more self-critical.” This will sometimes make the stutterer have more errors. This will add to the tension they have about stuttering. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and getting the negative thoughts like “never be satisfied unless you have achieved near 100%,” out of a stutterers mind will help them learn to work with their stuttering. They will be no longer going for perfection. Thank you for your article.
