I can realte to this. I am an adult PWS, and only started seeking support and therapy 2 years ago. I have had a hard time with specific fluency shaping goals. I worry about sounding unnatural. it has been suggested to me that I might want to work on slowing my rate and using pausing. I am all for that, but I am a fast talker, so when I speak in a slower cadence, I don't like how that makes me sound. So you raise very valid points. The best clinincians need to meet the client where he or she is at. What advice would you give to a person who obviously could benfit from slowing down a bit, but is really resistant to speech tools? And how do you help the SLP student feel like she is on the right track with a client?
