I enjoyed this article and thought that the author brought up some valuable points, including the fact that sometimes our "favorite" treatment approach may not be something the client is interested in trying. Especially with adult clients, we may have to alter our treatment plan based on how the client feels rather than whether or not we feel the treatment will be effective, Also, the one thing that the author noted that I had not thought about before is the potentially false information the client (or client's parent) brings to the first session with them. I hadn't thought about the importance of asking what the client/parent already knew versus what he or she wanted to learn.
