Hi Pamela. There are so many problems we have to face. Stuttering, death, money problems, divorce etc. But as long as we can make the best of the situation we can get through life with our heads up. It's so important we see that ray of light, but we have to look for it. And with so many people doing the same, feeling the same and experiencing the same we have a support group many people don't have facing other problems. So aren't we the lucky ones? What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Having met you in person you turned into a bright, strong, funny and loving person. Now how many fluent people do we know having all these qualities? You asked me: "What is the best part of your work with young people?" The changes they make. I've seen children hanging on to their parents, being angry at their parents for taking them there, but when they leave they ask when the next camp is. Young people who, after a camp, tell me about their inner change, about changing jobs, starting to study for that dream job, starting to travel to reunite with their camp friends and even being chair persons to their national stuttering organisations. And those hugs, tears and emails... One girl even went from being a shy delegate to being the vice mayor in Bulgaria to working for the EU in Brussels. I still get goose bumbs when thinking of her. Being together is the most powerful tool there is, even in stuttering treatment. I am still in touch with many of them and a friend of mine refers to them as "my children". I'm so proud of each and every one of them! Hugs, Anita
