Hi Ashley and thanks for your comments. You ask "are there some people who are bothered by the fact that you sometimes put your stutter to use for your advantage (ie: the plane ticket, when you don't want to talk, etc.)?" Possible. But firstly: how would they know :-) and secondly, it's just as much a survival mechanism. To make the best of a situation. Stuttering is tough and we meet a lot of people who make it even tougher. It's good to every now and then have a break. See, my life story is a dark one, and I had to use all survival techniques to litterally stay alive. And yes, sensitivity about stuttering varies among different people, both among those who stutter and those who listen. When that train conductor heard me stutter heavily while asking where the train was, he startled and said "Let me help you little girl. I'll carry your bag for you and you take my hand and I'll personally bring you to the train. Don't worry, everything will be allright." I was 38 years old... I was angry, frustrated and humiliated... and used him carrying my heavy bag. My blunt way is what keeps me going and others have their ways of getting through the day. We all stutter in different ways and we all feel differently about it. And that's ok. Thanks for asking your question. It gave me food for thought. Happy ISAD! Anita
