Hi Tracy, I think that children respond in different ways to different therapy activities. Many children have shared they felt "embarrassed at first" when they tried different ways of producing speech. Some children have displayed great pleasure in practicing these different types of speech. Regardless of the child's initial response, it has been my clinical experience that children recognize that there are different ways to make speech and that it is O.K. to "play around" with how we talk.
