Crystal, I think incorporating a speech buddy into therapy is a really great idea. I have a personal experience with a "buddy" when I was in middle school. I was a member of a therapy group that met during the school day for kids whose parents were divorced or separated. I recall being able to bring a friend with me for a day and feeling like the "cool kid" in school. I felt empowered, and that my family situation was not as unknown to the rest of my class. I think this is an excellent idea for therapy, especially for a child that may be shy or embarrassed. I was wondering what type of feedback you got from your classroom teachers or other school staff? Had they noticed any differences in your student in their classroom after your speech buddy day?
