I am currently completing an internship in an elementary school and we use this approach with several children with Autism. We have a weekly "lunch bunch" which includes a small group of peers who are invited to join our speech session. The experience has been extremely positive for all involved. In addition to including peers in therapy sessions, my supervisor and I give a presentation to each child's class about Autism and how to be a "good friend" to a classmate with Autism. My supervisor feels that it is a great way to increase understanding and acceptance of differences in one another. Do you think a classroom presentation on stuttering would be an effective way to help foster understanding and positive attitudes towards individuals who stutter? Thanks, Nicole
