Thanks, Allison. It really is about finding out what the person really needs at that particular moment. It's amazing when this happens, especially while working with a teen or adult who can express the process occurring. Instead of "wow, I never thought about that" often the response is, "you know, I have been thinking about this for the last few months, but just couldn't figure out what to do about it." That, for me, is when I know I have been "with" my client, helping them to express exactly what it is they need, and then figuring out with the client how to accomplish what they want. Again, this all has very little to do with fluency. Take care, Joe K.
