Like everyone else has already said, this article provides some great insight on the fluent clinician vs. the clinician who stutters. I wanted to comment on the challenge that I am experiencing this semester working with an individual who stutters. We are at the stage of supporting the client to become their own clinician. I liked how you commented that clinicians need to advocate and provide constructive criticism and challenge their clients at the same time. This is definitely the case with my client. However, I also think it is important to say that this can be a challenge for the clinician as much as the client. Particularly because it is ultimately in the hands of the client of what will/can be accomplished through therapy.
