I love the twist in the title. Thank you for this article, I've enjoyed reading it. I am a first semester grad student, taking my first class related to fluency. I have considered this question as well. In regard to being a good clinician, the article states "They demonstrate empathy or the ability to relate to the emotions that an individual is expressing without having to experience the exact situation". How is this accomplished in the therapeutic environment? Is it beneficial or harmful to the therapeutic relationship for a fluent clinician to share experience wtih the painful emotions, while of course acknowleging that the situations are different?
