Shawna, Great question. One thing that I see many young clinicians do is attempt to control every second of the session. This takes the responsibility of leading the session away from the client. While it can be difficult to enter a session without a time ordered agenda, if a clinician follows the client's lead and allows them to generate discussion points and the goals of therapy, change may be enhanced.
