Hi Nicole, thanks for the great question. I had an amazing therapist who made it very clear to me that he knew LOTS about stuttering, but nothing about my stuttering, and that I would have to find my own path out of the stuttering woods. I am still on that path, and, above everything else, I honor the paths that others are on. Our paths will lead to our individual freedom and happiness, and probably to more fluency, too. My only rule, I guess, is that we need to be working. Be ware of the client who loves to talk about stuttering, and do very little about it. Our clients are changed by what they do, especially outside of the therapy room... Take care, Joe K.
