I thought this article was very insightful due to the authors' provision of both sides of the issue. Joe Klein's discussion of being a therapist who stutters was most interesting due to his discussion of the ways in which he is not always able to provide productive therapy due to his lack of knowledge of their own personal experiences. He also discusses that despite his own emotional experiences and feelings, the session can often end up being more about him than the client. Despite this discussion, in the end he made a clear arguement for the lack of difference between a fluent therapist, and one who stutters. The second therapist emphasizes the importance of coaching and supporting a client, which is important for future clinicians to understand, whether they are fluent or non-fluent. Overall this article was insightful.
