Judith, I really enjoyed reading your article. I have much experience working with Down's children in after school programs. I found the artice to be very informative and I learned a lot. I would like to ask what types of behaviors you observed in the down's children who had "shame stuttering?" and in the children who were ages 8-9 who were just begining to stutter (normal developmental dysfluency) is it really ok to tell them that "it it will get better". Are there other factors involved with Downs that may make it harder for them to move out of the "normal developmental stuttering" that children who do ont have down's?
