Hello, Hearing loss caused by middle ear pathology is very much associated with phonology difficulties in normal children. Downs Children have difficulty with articulation because of Oral Motor coordination problems and the effects of chronic ear infections. Stuttering can also be tied in here because when a person does not feel well from an upper respiratory disorder, ear infections, or allergies, their neurological system will not work WELL and speech fluency is affected. I know a lot of PWS (adults) who seem to have allergies and are very prone to upper respiratory problems. Thank you. Judith
