Hello, Development of language is the result of cognition development and that is why Downs Children stutter later. They are very high risk for stuttering because of reduced oral motor coordination, difficulties with language formulation/word finding, and the occurrance of ear infections/allergies. Also, SI (sensory integration issues) are present which results in the easy emergency of excitement. With all of these factors, Downs Children are less likely to spontaneously recover from stuttering. Thank you. Judith
