Hello, I would guess that Downs Children are less aware of their articulation skills and stuttering. SHAME of stuttering develops when they are told in a helpful way to "Stop and Start Over", etc. They have a lot of high risk factors for stuttering and these include reduced oral-motor coordination, language formulation/word finding difficulties, ear infections/allergies, and sensory integration issues. Consequently, they do not pass through stuttering as easily as normal developing children who stutter. Their stuttering can persist more into adulthood. Thank you. Judith
