Good afternoon! I am a grad student at Western Carolina University. I found your article particularly interesting because it provided ways to decrease the occurance of avoidance behaviors by children with Down Syndrome. I was wondering at what age the children were integrated into some the "mainstream" classes and if their stuttering had begun before or after? I was also curious to see if there had been any kind of discussion with the the children in the classroom prior to the child's introduction to that class. I would like to find out if the children were informed of the child and his disability how they may react differently to him/her. I was thinking that if they were informed they may support him and avoid the negative attitutudes/comments that may encourage much of the avoidance behaviors in the first place. Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing your opinion!
