You are a thorough scholar, Steen! I found your article particularky interesting because I've done some research in this area myself and have given a couple of presentations at conventions. You might also take a look at another compilation of stuttering treatments by G. M. Klingbeil: The Historical Background of the Modern Speech Clinic: Stuttering and Stammering (Journal of Speech Disorders, 1939, Vol. 4, pp.115-132). I got my Ph.D. under Wendell Johnson, though I also knew Van Riper quite well, and in 1991 I wrote a lengthy article for our now-defunct National Council on Stuttering newsletter. the title was "Wendell Johnson and Charles Van Riper: A Remembrance of Them and Their Era." Judy Kuster put it online. I doubt you would learn anything factual about Johnson or Van Riper from that article, but it was fun to write. And thanks for your article!
