Thank you for your interest in the history of stuttering. The most important era in the 19th century for stuttering therapy might be the development of democracy and establishing of stuttering therapy for a much broader public, and for children too. Institutions for stuttering therapy was established in many European countries in the late 19th century (in Chicago Public Schools from 1912). Those institutions gave rise to more development of stuttering therapy and therapy for many more PWS.
