Development of stuttering seems to be caused by additive genetic effects, individual-specific environmental effects, and for males also very limited genetic dominans. Development in molecular medicine may in the future have in impact on the additive genetic effects or on the very limited genetic dominans. More knowledge about the individual-specific effects may also give us more tools to alleviate the development of stuttering.
