I have been thinking about your question for a couple of days. I had a lot of caring people in my life and a lot of faith and the belief from early on that I wasn't a quitter. I also wanted to be a writer more than anything and I kept getting encouragement from teachers and editors to keep moving in that direction. It wasn't easy, but quitting just seems so wrong -- and sad!
