I thought this was a really interesting article that can be beneficial to many individuals. I am shocked to learn there aren't enough SLP's specializing in the treatment of stuttering. As a graduate student, I find stuttering to be one of the most interesting issues in the field of speech pathology. I have just completed a project on the link between stuttering and social anxiety, which brings me to my first question. When the program assessed affective aspects of stuttering, has it come to the clinician's attention that many PWS exhibit high levels of social anxiety? In addition, I am really interested in the ongoing debate about the link between stuttering and anxiety. So, from your experience in this program, do you tend to lean toward one theory? Do you believe anxiety mediates stuttering or is a consequence of it? MY final questions are about the group therapy. Is group therapy beneficial for reducing negative emotions of speech? How is group therapy done? Does it involve commenting on others speech as well as their own, in order to identify stuttering behaviors and raise awareness? Thank you for this information, I truly learned much from it!
