Hi Leys Geddes, I am a speech language pathology grad student who does not stutter. While reading your article I found several things that I agreed with. For instance the Chinese proverb you mention "Tell me and I'll forget; show me and I may remember, involve me and I'll understand." It really made me think of an assignment a professor of mine has assigned to all of us in her class. We have been asked to make a phone call and stutter to the best of our ability. We also will have to go somewhere and stutter when we talk. I feel these assignments really open our eyes to what individual's who stutter go through every time they speak. I feel this experience will really help us understand and be able to connect with our clients who stutter. Do you feel if more individuals who do not stutter go through experiences like this, the gap between PWS and non-PWS would lessen? Do you have any other ideas to help get more information to non-PWS to increase understanding? Thank you for sharing your thoughts, experiences, and taking the time to read my comments and questions.
