Very thought-provoking paper. Here’s one of my thoughts: I tell my fluency disorders class that the client has to want therapy and I’m glad to see you concur. But I also tell my treatment methods class that sometimes the clinician has to work to increase a client’s motivation. As for deciding when enough of this sort of work is enough, I suppose I rely on intuition. Do you have a rule of thumb or an indicator of some sort that you use when making the call that a client just isn’t going to work with you?
